A Prayer for a Particular Boy

Dear God,

I know a particular boy who lives in my neighborhood. I forget his name, but he walks by my house often, and if I am outside we talk about school, home, and whatever mischief he's been in that day. I always try to have a sense of humor about the trouble he causes, but I also tell him how he may be making others feel when he does these things. As he ponders what I share, I really sense your Spirit doing a work in this boy's life!

Today, he and a friend came by with a handfull of freshly pulled daffodils, probably from a stranger's yard, and was trying to sell some to me! I laughed! I said, "If those had been my daffodils, I would have come after you!" He jokingly said, "Yeah, my friend thought about it!" I recommended that he GIVE the flowers to someone, and his friend thought of taking them to the hospital, because his mom worked there. So, we chatted a little while longer, and they ran off deliver their flowers to some people who would probably appreciate it!

Lord, I pray that someday very soon that this particular boy would come to know You, and then YOU could tell him not to pick other people's flowers! But in the mean time, thanks for sending him my way and using me to touch his life with Your love!

AMEN!

Dirty Faced Kisses

There are few things that are more precious in this world to me, than a big, wet smack on the lips from my daughter who just finished eating her cinnamon toast! It's moments like these that I wish I could stop time and hold that little face in my hands, and somehow make her understand how much I absolutely adore her, and how proud I am that she's my daughter! I realize in that moment that this won't last forever, and as the years pass, she may forget to give me a simple kiss goodbye on her way out the door to go visit her friends.

Have you ever wondered how mom's can put up with those dirty faced kisses? I use to, until I became a mother myself. You see, I think God created mothers with the ability to see past the "cinnamon toast on the face", as a picture of how He loves us! Not that He, nor the mother, ignores the mess, rather they choose to express their love in spite of it. To everyone else, the dirty faced kisses are completely undesireable, but to a mother, they are priceless!
